TETA in JEDDO
“Serving Lebanese families”
The project:
The TETA w JEDDO project, literally meaning "Grandma and Grandpa" in the Lebanese dialect, provides material aid and human support to Lebanese families most impacted by the economic crisis that Lebanon is currently going through. The project, led by the OUM AL FADI association, was born shortly after the explosion at the port of Beirut on August 4, 2020. Originally, our objective was to help the victims of the accident who were most exposed to poverty. The elderly found themselves the most destitute, as no pension system exists in Lebanon. However, the economic crisis has worsened significantly since then. This has gradually pushed us to diversify our aid and to take care not only of the elderly, but also of families in difficulty.
TETA w JEDDO currently provides material support to 150 people each month. This assistance is provided in several ways: daily home deliveries of traditional hot meals, weekly or monthly food parcel deliveries adapted to the needs of families and the level of autonomy of the elderly, financial support for their medical needs (medication, operations, etc.), participation in one-off projects such as home work, etc. To maintain a strong connection with the families supported and assess their needs, we organize home visits very regularly.
Food aid
Our volunteers distribute weekly food parcels for families, or daily hot meals, prepared by Sandy snacks, a local restaurant in the Ein el Remmaneh neighborhood. A food basket is distributed every Friday for the weekend's food to isolated people. Concerned about the quality of the food distributed, we take into account tastes, nutritional needs and health concerns.
Medical dispensary
We provide medical support to our beneficiaries who suffer from disabilities or illnesses. To check their medical needs, our medical team consisting of a volunteer, a nurse, a doctor and a pharmacist visits them and examines their needs to organize medical assistance. We partner with the Diocese of Beirut for the storage of medicines and with Phoenix to import medicines.
Visit and Solidarity
Every day we visit people to play cards, spend time with them and note their needs. Every weekend, our volunteers go to visit the elderly and spend time with them. They chat, bring them flowers...
These visits allow us to understand the needs of the people we help and to monitor the evolution of their situation. They also allow us to create a strong bond with them.
Sponsorship
In order to perpetuate a suitable living situation for the families we help, we wanted to create a concept of sponsorship between them and families abroad. This system aims to create a real family and fraternal environment around isolated people. Also, this sponsorship demonstrates the friendship and solidarity between Western and Eastern peoples.

Work
With the worsening of the economic crisis over the past year, many Lebanese have seen their standard of living collapse, or have even lost their jobs. We believe it is important to explore avenues today to help them return to work.
Basic necessities
With inflation and shortages, many basic necessities (hygiene products, water, certain electronic equipment, etc.) risk becoming difficult to access for the most vulnerable people. We are extending our assistance to these essential goods.
